Condemning without confronting: Indexing within Australian news media framing of former Indonesian president Joko Widodo amid his endorsement of Prabowo Subianto for the 2024 election

By testing the indexing hypothesis, my research explored whether Australian media provided independent scrutiny of Indonesia’s “democratic backsliding” or if coverage remained aligned with domestic elite perspectives.

Politainment in the Setya Novanto accident: A framing analysis and violations of the Indonesian Journalistic Code of Ethics in the news coverage of the Setya Novanto accident on the Tribunnews, November 16–30, 2017

I investigated how Indonesia’s most-visited news portal transformed a major political corruption scandal and subsequent car accident into a farcical media spectacle. It reveals how the pursuit of “politainment” ultimately compromised journalistic integrity and breached the journalism code of ethics.
